Counselling and Coaching agreement - expectations.

This agreement applies to all Counselling and coaching sessions.

It provides a clear framework for how I operate and ensures that we all know how we are going to work together.

Counselling & Coaching Agreement

Its My Life agrees to: 

·        Respect client confidentiality at all times and will not disclose any information about the client without the client’s knowledge. (except as per Its My Life Safety policy or when legally obligated to do so)

·        Operate in a safe and ethical manner and operate within the code of ethics as set out by the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC)

·        Provide clients with copies of any notes made in connection with their counselling/coaching session on request.

·        Treat all clients with respect and not discriminate on any grounds.

·        Provide all clients with a safe, friendly and professional environment to enable them to discuss whatever issues they would like to address in counselling.

·        Act according to the NZAC  code of ethics with regards to safety of all parties concerned.

·        To notify the client of fee structures at the commencement of counselling/coaching sessions.

·        Should the counsellor feel that the client would receive greater benefit from seeing a more specialised counsellor or organisation then a referral will be made – with the client’s knowledge.

The Client agrees to and understands that:

·        Notification of cancellation must be received 24hrs in advance of counselling session otherwise a cancellation fee will be charged.

·        They should arrive on time for appointments and that lateness may reduce the length of that particular session accordingly.

·        Payment is to be made at the end of each session. All fees will be discussed prior to the commencement of counselling/coaching.

·        The client is aware of the Service Agreement specifically related to online support and understands that online session are not suitable for clients in crisis were immediate support is required – please see website for alternative support.

·        The client is free to decide how many sessions they would like to attend and can end the counselling/coaching relationship at any time. (within time frames for cancellation as set out above)

·        Should the client have any complaint in connection with the counselling sessions they can refer this to the NZAC (The New Zealand Association of Counsellors)  Phone: (07) 834 0220 Address: 3rd Floor,Federated Farmers Building, 169 London Street, Hamilton 2015 or The International Coaching Federation.

Safety policy:

Its My Life has a legal and ethical obligation to ensure (whenever possible) the safety of all clients, counsellors and the wider community.

·        Should an Its My Life counsellor be concerned for a clients safety (or the safety of other third parties) then he/she has a legal and ethical obligation to contact specialist help and support. In such circumstances appropriate organisations will be contacted, wherever possible, with the prior knowledge of the client.  Any information that is deemed important and/or is legally required to be disclosed about the client to such organisations will be disclosed.
